ICL– Images and Communication Lab – is one of the laboratories of the Center of Excellence MICCMedia Integration and Communication Center of the University of Florence.  MICC is part of the Department of Information Engineering (DINFO) of the University of Florence.

MICC, as Center of Excellence specialized on new media, was set up at the University of Florence by the Ministry of Education, University and Research in 2001. It is an interdisciplinary center for advanced research on processing, interpretation and transmission of images and videos, on artificial vision and multimedia technologies applied for cultural heritage, health and social applications. MICC collaborates with other universities and research institutes as well as with firms.

The ICL team also belongs to the Research Unit of Florence of the National Inter-university Consortium for Telecommunications (CNIT).

ICL carries out basic research and technology transfer to companies and public entities. Research activity is mainly devoted to multimedia forensics and security, in particular to image forensics and digital watermarking, to multimedia applications for cultural heritage, health, web and smart cities, and to the interactive TV.
